Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is the evolution of SMS. It allows your mobile phone to send and receive pictures, video and audio clips.
Firstly, you will need a phone that is MMS compatible. All camera phones and some of those without cameras can use MMS.
Each network has different settings for MMS. These can be obtained directly by calling Customer Service (from a landline), who will send you the settings whilst you are talking to them. It can be as simple as reading the received message and saving it into your phone. Another way to obtain the settings is to visit your networks website and follow the links. You can choose your phone model and send the settings to yourself. If you change networks you will have to go through the process again.
If you do not have the correct settings, the phone will not let you send any MMS and give you a ‘message failed’ prompt. Any MMS received will not be viewable, but will direct you to the networks web address to view it later on your computer.
Once set up, you can send pictures, short video and audio to your friends. There are limitations on the size of the picture or attachment you can send. MMS’ can also be sent to email addresses, which is handy if you want to keep a particular picture.
The cost of each MMS sent is approximately 50 cents dependant upon the network. Just like SMS, the recipient does not incur a charge.
Have your phone set up correctly and you can share your happy snaps with all your friends!
